Thermodynamic properties of aliphatic halogen compounds. Part 2.—Heat capacity of 1,1,1-trichloroethane

Abstract
Heat capacities of 1,1,1-trichloroethane in the crystalline, liquid and vapour states in the temperature range 11 to 450 K, and enthalpies of phase transitions have been measured. A first-order crystal to crystal transition was observed at 243 K but there was no sign of the heat capacity anomaly at about 206 K, previously reported. Standard entropies, heat capacities in the ideal gas state, and second virial coefficients of the vapour have been calculated from the measured properties.
