Disappearance of HGF From Insulin After Liver Perfusion

Abstract

Experiments were performed in which regular insulin, HGF free insulin and Glucagon (HGF) were studied by means of perfusion through isolated frog livers. Regular and HGF insulin caused an increased output of glucose from the livers. Their ability to cause hyperglycemia in fasted rabbits was abolished by passage through the frog livers and extracts of these livers likewise caused no hyperglycemia in fasted rabbits. Hypoglycemic activity of regular insulin was not altered by perfusion through frog livers.
