The Hydrogen Atom in a Generalized Classical Electrodynamics

Abstract
The author recently proposed a generalized classical electrodynamics in which the usual assumption that the field of a moving electron is given by its retarded field is abandoned, and a combination of retarded and advanced fields is considered. This paper considers the application of the generalized equations of motion to investigate the motion of the electron in the hydrogen atom. It is shown that, unlike the Lorentz-Dirac equations, these generalized equations permit the electron to spiral round and fall into the nucleus.
