Tumors of the synovial tissues are rare. The following report of a fatal synovial neoplasm originating from the medial aspect of the knee (bursa anserina) illustrates the difficulties of diagnosis and treatment, while a study of the primary growth and the lung metastasis throws some light on the nature of these tumors and on the structure of the normal synovial membrane from which they originate.
