Abstract
The topics discussed included pathological features of emphysema (lesions, bullae, measurement and frequency); factors in the cause (age, sex, habitation, pollutants, genetics and .alpha.1-antitrypsin deficiency); natural and experimental procedures used to induce emphysema; the clinical, radiological and functional diagnosis; medical management (O2 therapy and bronchodilator therapy); and the radical treatment of emphysema by lung transplantation, radiotherapy and surgical removal.This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
