Studies on benzoheterocyclic derivatives. XVI. Synthesis and analgesic action of benzofuran derivatives.

Abstract

A series of 2-(N-substituted amino)methyl-2,3-dihydrobenzofurans were synthesized in order to examine the effect of the N-substituent on their analgesic activity. Some of these compounds demonstrated a good analgesic activity when tested by the acetic acid writhing method in mice. 2-(3-Phenylpropylamino)methyl-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran showed the most potent activity in this series.
