Abstract
To the Editor: The treatment of pain with epidural and intrathecal administration of morphine was first described in 1979.1 , 2 Intrathecal administration of morphine for the control of pain in myocardial infarction has also been reported.3 A recent review4 discusses both intrathecal and epidural administration of morphine in different clinical situations. There are, however, no reports on the use of morphine epidurally for the treatment of pain in acute myocardial infarction.We studied six patients, aged 46 to 73 years, with clinical signs of acute myocardial infarction confirmed by electrocardiography and elevated levels of serum enzymes.
