Abstract
The range of application of the Percus‐Yevick equation is analysed using an asymptotic form of the equation. The inconsistencies arising for mixtures of repulsive and attractive forces are removed by considering additional terms to the equation, but the equation still assumes an inconsistent form for many systems of attractive forces. Keywords
