Abstract
Efforts to prevent transmission of viral hepatitis have been complicated by the identification of two “new” types of hepatitis: non-A, non-B and delta (a serious, sometimes fatal infection). The viral types are rarely distinguishable by clinical means; however, a number of rapid, sensitive, and specific serologic assays permit precise differentiation of etiology, chronicity, and infectivity. Keywords
