Abstract
The cervical mucin present in cows at estrus is carbohydrate and may be a mucopolysac-charide, while the mucins of pregnant cows and cows in dies- trus contain both a polysaccharide and protein. None are attacked by hyaluronidase, but all are dissolved by neutral oxidizing agents, especially NaOCl. It is suggested a soln. of NaOCl containing 1% available Cl and buffered with borate might be of value as an irrigation fluid in the treatment of bovine trichomoniasis.
