A note on learning in paramecium.

Abstract
Examined the learning processes in paramecium. Two tests were carried out. 8 Ss were used in the first test, where each paramecium was drawn into a glass tube and its movements were observed with a key and a kymograph. In the 2nd test, 6 Ss were transferred to an open watch-glass of culture-water. After an interval of 10 to 20 mins, they were replaced in the capillary-tube and observed as in test 1. Results reveal that the paramecium is capable of modifying its usual avoiding reaction, within a few minutes. The effect of this modification remains for some time independently of external changes induced. Suggestions for further research have been offered.
