Production of Atheromatosis in the Aorta of the Chicken by Administration of Diethylstilbestrol.

Abstract
Pellets of diethylstilbestrol, each weighing 25 mg., were implanted into White Leghorn chickens. A single pellet was injected into each bird when it was 3.3 mos. old and at the following intervals thereafter: 30 days, 40 days, and 65 days. There was a marked increase in the lipid level of the blood plasma, in some cases as high as 10,000 mg./100 ml. and a hyper -lipemic athermatosis.
