Abstract
Dialkyl-, alkyl cyano- and alkyl cyclohexyl-cyclohexyl cyclohexanoates were synthesized. The lower homologs show nematic phases while the higher ones show nematic and/or smectic phases. Long alkyl chains on the acid side favor the nematic phase.Keywords
