Abstract
The authors have measured the lifetimes of the first two vibronic levels of the B1Sigma+state of carbon monoxide using the inelastic electron-photon coincidence technique. Their respective values are 21.8+or-0.3 and 15.5+or-0.7 ns. They attribute this dependence on the vibrational quantum number to a very strong dependence of the B-X transition moment on the internuclear distance and have determined this transition moment in the r centroid approximation. Keywords
