Abstract
Bantis'' disease or splenic anemia is a secondary mechanical congestive splenomegaly resulting from a variety of primary lesions that produce splenic vein hypertension. There is no justification for the concept of the classical 3 stages. If hepatic cirrhosis is not present as the obstructive mechanism, before splenectomy, it will not develop. The term congestive splenomegaly is preferred. Keywords
