Abstract
Alternative x-ray line-ratio techniques, using heliumlike and lithiumlike dielectronic satellite lines, are proposed for the measurement of electron temperature and state of ionization in dense plasmas, such as laser-produced and Z-pinch plasmas. These techniques are illustrated by application to the emission spectrum of the implosion core of a laser-imploded microballoon. Keywords
