The Electrocrystallisation of Nickel: The Effects of Additives

Abstract

The effects of the first order brightener saccharine, the second order brightener succinonitrile and of the second order brightener and leveller pyridine on the kinetics of the initial stages of the electro deposition of nickel have been examined. It has been shown that the dominant effects are on the nucleation of three-dimensional growth centres while the rates of crystal growth are insensitive to the nature and concentration of the additives.
