Wegener's Granulomatosis

Abstract
Four fatal cases fulfilling the criteria for the diagnosis of Wegener''s granulomatosis are reported, each with autopsy findings. Treatment proved unsatisfactory, but high doses of steroids seemed helpful in the disseminated stages, especially when renal involvement was present. Terminal renal failure was rapid and unremitting in 3 of the 4 cases. The disease appears to be related to other conditions associated with vascular hypersensitivity, particularly periarteritis nedesa.
