Unusual Forms of Heart Disease

Abstract
Unusual cardiac conditions may be classified as follows: 1. Anatomic conditions: Ebstein''s malformation, valvular rupture, neoplasm. 2. Heart integrally affected in general disease: amyloidosis, lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, hemochromatosis. 3. Cardiac complications of other disease: diphtheria, purulent pericarditis, anemia, thyrotoxicosis, arteriovenous fistula, metastasis. 4. Precipitators or accelerators of heart disease: xanthomatosis, possibly obesity, myxedema. 5. Masqueraders of heart disease: thrombosis, involvement of inferior vena cava by tumor.
