Abstract
The effect of a new therapeutic agent, Miltown, a member of the propanediol group, was investigated. Its effect on emotional tension and muscle discomfort was compared with that of a matching placebo by the "double-blind" method. Results reveal that Miltown in dosage used had no greater effect in relieving symptoms than did the placebo in this group of unselected patients. Effects of larger dosage on the central nervous system were not explored.
