Abstract
The Kawakawa Tephra is defined to include an upper Oruanui Breccia Member, a middle Scinde Island Ash Member, and a lower Aokautere Ash Member. It is recommended that the use of the name Oruanui Formation be discontinued. A type section is proposed together with a series of reference sections for the areas peripheral to the eruptive source. Keywords
