MULTIPLE NON-LUETIC ANEURYSMS IN YOUNG NIGERIANS

Abstract
Seven young Nigerians are described in whom multiple aneurysms of the aorta and the main branches of the arch of the aorta occurred. These were defined by angiocardiography and the symptoms and physical signs are briefly described. The risk of secondary hypertension in those with abdominal aneurysms is emphasized. The possible etiology is discussed and it is suggested that the aneurysms either are caused by localized congenital weaknesses in the walls of the vessels or are the late seuelae of an arteritis.
