Abstract
K phenylsulfate, K 1-naphthysulfate, and K 2-naphthylsulfate were labelled with radioactive S (S35) chlorosulfonic acid. A study was made of the conditions necessary for the accurate measurement of the amt. of S35 present as inorganic sulfate in urine containing (S35) arylsulfate. Expts. were carried out in which the K salts of (S35) phenylsulfuric acid, and (S35) 1-and (S35) 2-naphthyl-sulfuric acid were admn. to rats (0.05 m-[image] per rat) by intraperit. injn. and by stomach tube. Under these conditions little hydrolysis of these arylsulfates occurred in the rat, for the total excretion of radioactive inorganic sulfate in the urine in the 96 hrs. after dosing was only 4-12% of the S35 admn. as arylsulfate. Most of the admn. arylsulfate was excreted unchanges in the urine within a few hrs. of dosing. Less than 6% of the S35 admn. as arylsulfate appeared in the feces. Keywords
