THE USE OF TESTOSTERONE PROPIONATE IN THE TREATMENT OF ADVANCED CARCINOMA OF THE BREAST

Abstract
The effects of large doses of testosterone propionate on advanced carcinoma of the female breast were studied in a series of 11 cases. Remarkable improvement was shown in 4 cases as evidenced by regression of the primary lesion and metastases in one case, and an increase in calcification in areas of osseous metastasis in the other 3 cases. Coincident with the osteoblastic changes was the disappearance of pain. 4 patients did not respond to therapy, and 3 others are still under treatment. The authors feel that large doses of testosterone propionate may, in certain instances, exert a favorable influence on advanced carcinoma of the 9 breast.
