Abstract
Cross sections for the excitation of the (0,0) band of the first negative and the (4,1) band of the Meinel system by electron impact on nitrogen have been measured. The maximum effective cross sections for the (0,0) first negative and for the (4,1) Meinel band are 1.68× and 6.76× , respectively. The maximum cross section for both systems occurs in the energy range 90-110 eV.
