ISOLATION OF OSMOTIC REMEDIAL TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE MUTANTS DEFECTIVE IN CELL WALL OR MEMBRANE IN NEUROSPORA CRASSA

Abstract
Temperature sensitive mutants (257) which are able to grow on mimimal medium at 25.degree. C (not at 35.degree. C) were isolated by the filtration-enrichment method. The study indicates that one of the osmotic remedial temperature-sensitive mutants, TS 21, may be altered in cell wall composition, and the other, TS 15, in cell membrane. This method may prove useful in determining functions of these organelles.
