The Measurement of Low Energy X-Rays III: Ferrous Sulphate G-Values

Abstract
A total absorption calorimeter has been used to measure energy flux in low energy X-ray beams from a Be[long dash]window Machlett tube. These beams were then totally absorbed in ferrous sulphate (Fricke) dosemeter solution and measurement of total ferric ion production used to calculate G-values [molecular yield/100 electron volts absorbed energy]. The results using 0.8[image]-H2SO4 solutions were 13.1 [plus or minus] 0.2 for 20 kvp [kilo electron volts] , 13.0 [plus or minus] 0. 2 for 15 kvp and 12.9 [plus or minus] 0.3 for 10 kvp beams. In 0.1[image]-HS2O4 the result was 13.0 [plus or minus]0.2 for a 20 kvp beam.This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
