Low-Temperature Liquid-Vapor Deformation Calorimeter

Abstract
A single‐step calorimeter has been constructed and developed to measure the energy relations involved in the deformation of metals in tension at low temperatures. The instrument has been used to measure the energy stored during the deformation of copper and aluminum single crystals as a function of strain and orientation at 78°K. The results have been analysed with respect to errors and reproducibility and compared with data from previous investigations.
