Pharmacologic and Physiologic Aspects of Anesthesiology

Abstract
DURING the six years since our last report of progress in the field of anesthesiology1 there have been important advances in the acquisition of scientific information and in the application of this knowledge to the clinical care of patients. A number of excellent reviews and symposia summarized some of these advances.2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Relevant and important progress in anesthesiology has been achieved through the efforts of basic scientists who are keenly interested in the anesthetic processes and of anesthesiologists who have the combined qualities of clinical insight and scientific skill.
