Abstract

Eyes of embryonic chicks (64-72 hrs.) show remarkable powers of self-differentiation in vitro. Different zones of the pars optica of the retina, the pars ciliaris retinae and the lens fibers differentiate at almost normal rate but with an inhibition of cell multiplication.
