Abstract
From mathematical-physical considerations and from previous experimentally found pressure-expiratory flow curves, a relationship between the maximum expiratory flow in a bronchial segment and the transmural stress at the up-stream end of the segment and the system constants describing the physical properties of the segment is derived. Experimental data from a rubber model of a bronchial segment were presented in support of the derived quantitive relationship. Keywords
