Relativistic Calculation of RadiativeM1Transitions in Charmonium

Abstract

The transition rates for various radiative $M1\mathrm{}$ decays between charmonium $S$ states are calculated relativistically. The rates depend considerably on the quark mass and on the Dirac covariants in the potential. The $M1\mathrm{}$ decays may therefore be a sensitive probe of quark interactions. Some numerical results are presented for a linear potential.
