Orbital Infusion of Steroids in the Rabbit

Abstract
Qualitative distribution studies by periocular injection of radiopaque media demonstrate the preferability of retrobulbar injection to the other evaluated routes of drug administration. In comparative steroid uptake studies by the dual radioisotope technique, ocular uptake of orbitally introduced cortisol was greater than that of intravenously introduced cortisol. These studies indicate the feasibility of this method for maximal therapy in the posterior eye.
