Abstract
The reasons for changes in the electrochromic characteristics of atmospheric-evaporated tungsten-oxide films (AETOF) were investigated, and significant lowering of the electrochromic response was found in cells utilizing films stored in air. This lowering was found to be due to oxidation of the film surface. Etching off the surface layer is an effective method of improving stored film.
