THE USE OF THE CHORIO-ALLANTOIC MEMBRANE OF THE DEVELOPING CHICK EMBRYO AS A MEDIUM IN THE STUDY OF VIRUS MYXOMATOSUM

Abstract
The virus of infectious myxomatosis of rabbits grew on the chorio-allantoic membrane of the developing chick embryo. The form and abundance of this lesion formed was influenced by the size of the infective dose as well as by the chilling of the embryo before and after inoculation and by the temp. at which the infected membranes were incubated. The virus was passed through 33 serial transfers. The lesions formed by the virus were distinguished by their linear character. The changes in the ectoderm consisted principally of the ectodermal proliferation.
