Abstract
The immunogenicity of synthetic aspartylamide-valyl5-angiotensin II, Hypertensin (mol wt 1031) was investigated. Guinea pigs were sensitized with angiotensin-carbodiimide-protein conjugates administered in complete Freund''s adjuvant into the footpads. By skin-testing with homologous as well as heterologous angiotensin-protein conjugates delayed and, less frequently, also immediate reactions were elicited. Conjugation of angiotensin with carrier proteins, however, is not a prerequisite for immunogenicity. The free octapeptide injected either in adjuvant or in saline caused sensitization in the guinea pig. As compared with angiotensin, alum-precipitated angiotensin and p-azobenzenearsonate-angiotensin did not show enhanced immunogenicity. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
