Does theΔ(3, 3)resonance factorize?

Abstract

Evidence is presented showing that there are nonresonant coherent backgrounds interfering with $\Delta (3, 3)$ resonance production in both $\pi N$ elastic scattering and photoproduction. The background in each case is predominantly given by the Born term projected into the resonant channel. Interplay between background and direct resonance production results in the observed shifts in the resonant-cross-section peaks.
