The extension of the standard agricultural practice of fertilizing the soil with superphosphate has been carried out in a number of Pinus radiata plantations in South Australia. The costs are moderate, particularly when compared with the encouraging growth responses from low quality stands. To date, 450 acres have been treated on Second Valley Forest Reserve, the subject area of this paper.
