Abstract
Mumps virus after 34 passages in monkey parotid glands was inoculated into yolk, allantoic and amniotic sacs of chick embryos. Multiplication of virus was demonstrated by antigen titration in the complement-fixation test and by monkey parotid inoculation. The egg passage virus was shown to be inactivated by 55[degree] C for 22 min., by 0.2% formalin, by ether and by u.-v. light. Egg passage virus was found to be as good an antigen in complement-fixation tests as monkey mumps parotid antigen and better for skin testing. A technic for virus neutralizing strain tests in serum was developed using chick embryos as test animal. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
