Molecular and cellular mechanisms of action of angiotensin II (AT1) receptors in vascular smooth muscle

Abstract

Angiotensin is an important regulator of blood pressure and exerts both pressor actions and influences growth in the cardiovascular system via the AT₁ receptor. This review describes a number of signalling mechanisms involved in vasoconstriction and growth in response to AT₁ receptor activation in vascular smooth muscle.
