Preparation and Anisotropic Superconducting Properties of HgBa2CuO4 Thin Films

Abstract
Thin films of HgBa2CuO4 have been grown with c-axis orientation perpendicular to (100) SrTiO3 substrates by sputtering deposition and subsequent annealing. The films exhibited sharp superconducting transition at 93 K. Values of the upper critical field H c2(0) estimated from the resistive measurements were 45 T and 565 T for themagnetic field H parallel with and perpendicular to the c axis, respectively. The Ginzburg-Landau coherence lengths were calculated to be 27 Å in the basal plane and 2.2 Å along the c axis, showing the anisotropy factor of 12. These values are almost similar to those of conventional p-type cuprate superconductors.
