Abstract
A new type of optical transition called a magnon sideband has recently been observed in several antiferromagnetic insulators. A general discussion of such transition is given and the experimental literature is reviewed. Sidebands have been identified by their line profiles, magnetic‐field behavior, stress behavior, and temperature dependence. Examples illustrating the results of such experiments are presented. A number of unsolved problems and topics deserving further study are briefly noted. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
