Disseminated Herpes Simplex With Encephalitis in a Neonate

Abstract
A premature baby had neonatal disseminated herpes simplex. Idoxuridine therapy was started when the infant was 12 days old and it was given intravenously for five days in a dose of 100 mg/kg/day. Clinical recurrence of the herpetic infection developed 20 days after the initial therapeutic course, and a second course of idoxuridine was successful in eradicating the virus.
