Abstract
The diffraction of a light beam is used to study the propagation of transverse magnetoelastic waves generated in a bar of yttrium iron garnet by an rf magnetic field. For the first time, waves are observed on the lower as well as on the upper branch of the magnetoelastic dispersion curves. Keywords
