Abstract
Following ligation of the common duct in the dog, bile passes into the lymph and hence via the thoracic duct into the blood. The bilirubin which appears in the blood is mainly of the quick reacting type. During the early phase of biliary obstruction, injected bromsulfthalein appears quickly in the lymph, but is not all removed from the blood within 36 hrs. Blood cholesterol did not increase significantly within 24 hrs., and alkaline phosphatase behaved in an intermediary manner. Keywords
