Abstract
The fusiform bacteria such as Fusobacterium nucleatum require an active principle or principles found in crude yeast extract when grown in a modified fluid thioglycolate medium. The factor is dialyzable., destroyed by acid and alkali, unaltered by certain enzymes and soluble in ethanol. It is not extractable with many organic solvents, and is not replaceable with a number of known growth factors.
