Abstract
A curve of response was constructed relating increase in wt. in 3 wks. to dose of flavin given. The basal diet consisted of caseinogen 15%. dextrinised rice starch 77%, agar-agar 2%, salt mixture (Steenbock''s 40) 4%, vit. B1 powder (100 International Units per gram) 2%. In addition each rat was given 6 drops of a good sample of cod liver oil twice a wk. and an amt. of liver extract (Halliday and Evans) equivalent to 2 g. fresh liver every day. The curves of response were represented by the equations [image][image] One sample of milk (fresh, unpasteurised Jersey) was found by this "increase in wt." method to contain about 8[gamma] flavin per ml.
