Abstract
The phosphatase activity of normal human feces was shown to be slightly increased in vitro by 0.53 X 10-2 [image] MgCl2, uninfluenced by 10-2 [image] NaF, and very strongly inhibited by 10-2 [image] KCN. The range of variation of the phosphatase activity of 50 normal stools was from 1.9 X 103 to 103 X 103 units (dry wt.) with a mean value of 23.0 X 103 units. There was probably a nega- [image] tive correlation between the phosphatase activity/unit wt. dry matter and the % dry matter in normal stools.
