NONSTOICHIOMETRIC DEFECTS IN YBa2 Cu3O7−δ

Abstract
Controlled injection of planar defects offers a possible means for optimizing the superconducting properties of Y-Ba-Cu-oxide sinters. High resolution electron microscopic examination of yttrium-rich superconducting preparations show c-plane intergrowth defects, together with twinning involving a 90° rotation of the c-axis.
