THE ISOLATION OF LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES FROM THE BOVINE CERVIX

Abstract

In a study of the bacterial flora of the cervix of so-called repeat breeder cows, Listeria monocytogenes in one instance was isolated in large numbers of almost pure culture from one such animal. There was no clinical indication of either local or general infection. Repeated attempts to reisolate L. monocvtogenes failed. The report established that L. monocvtogenes may be a possible temporary inhabitant of the genital tract of the female bovine.
